The company of Almería Ecopark, established in 2003 by 4 partners, has reached the 70 hectares of ecological production in this campaign. The company, that is in expansion period, in 2003 produced 600,000 kilograms of vegetables on a surface of 30 hectares.
At the present time, Ecopark produces 8,000 tons of eco products tripling the surface.
Luis Olcina, manager-director of Ecopark, explained that the growth of the company, is mainly due to the bet on the own production, that means the 80 per cent of the total of the company. The 20 per cent remaining is distributed among 9 collaborators.
This company works the lines of cherry tomato – 60 per cent -; tomato and grape tomato 30 per cent and the last 10 per cent is for the varieties of cucumber, watermelon and aubergine.
The markets of Europe are opened for this company. United Kingdom receives the 30 per cent of its supply; Germany the 55 per cent and Switzerland, Austria, Denmark and Holland the 15 per cent.
