The Costa de Níjar company commercialized, the last campaign, a volume of 13,000 tons of watermelon of the variety striped and Fashion fifty fifty.
The growth of Costa de Níjar is due to promote the line of Fashion watermelons. For the next campaign the company is having an extension of 140 hectares. And it is that in opinion of Manuel Segura, manager of Costa de Níjar: «the Fashion variety is very being demanded by the Spanish and European markets, mainly, the Scandinavian countries. In addition, this year we have entered in Germany with the Tengelmann supermarket, which absorbs most of our supply in this European country.»
The surface of striped watermelon will be present in 70 hectares.
