Spain is important in the sector of the tomato specialties and Ferva is an example today leading the Spanish production of cocktail tomato with a surface of 100 hectares of greenhouses, commercialized between October and June.

This company, directed by Francisco Sabio, started its bet on the cocktail 12 years ago with programs for United Kingdom and 4 years ago it has been extending the market to Germany, Holland and Austria.

The specialties are the 70 per cent of the commercial supply of Ferva and among its varieties the 36 hectares of pear baby stand out, the Trimi like sale unit that includes in a little box different cherries, yellow pear baby and red pear baby, and now “Toma-Teen”, a tomato of less than 25 millimetres of diameter for the childhood supplied in bags of 125-175 grams.

«This characteristic of this variety is to be sweeter than the rest of the tomatoes», said Sabio. The pear baby production is concentrated between September and June, although this year they will have production during the 12 months, like with the varieties of aubergine and cherry.

The cocktail tomato as commercial stars of Ferva is supplied with 40 different references based on the demand of the client. Ferva at the present time has 270 hectares of surface and its commercial objective to short-medium term is focused on «to extend in the German market with our specialties of tomato», said Sabio.

The company advances that it is working in new varieties yet with new flavours in tomato that will develop since the year 2009.
