El Grupo keeps on the increase of the supply

The incidences of each campaign do not concern to the cooperative El Grupo which has a little increase of its supply for the present campaign. During the campaign 2006-2007 this company commercialized 46,000 tons and this year they will increase their figures thanks to the increase of the cherry tomato, Italian pepper and watermelon.

This company of Granada intends to centre on 4-5 products and to work the market of these products: Dutch cucumber, cherry, Italian pepper, watermelon and perona bean.

Cucumber is one of the most important products of El Grupo with most profitability at the end of the campaign. Particularly, it commercialized 27,000 tons, which meant the 60 per cent of the commercial supply of this company. On the opposite, bean is in a period of changes. Last campaign bean had a commercial volume of 2,000 of tons.

The cherry tomato is another product which strategy changed more: «the objective to develop is the closing of the cycle of cherry with the incorporation of summer productions from the interior of Granada», said Miguel Manzano, manager of El Grupo.
